Dodge Durango puts the power to the pavement with grace and precision thanks to the 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine (with up to 295 horsepower) or the available 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine with Best-in-Class V8 power+ of up to 360 horsepower, near 50/50 weight distribution, an available sport suspension and an ultra-stiff body structure. Award-Winning 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine

The standard 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine generates 290 horsepower (295 horsepower with the Rallye Appearance Group) and 260 lb-ft of torque. It features Variable Valve Timing (VVT) to help maximize power and efficiency. The eight-speed automatic transmission helps V6-equipped rear-wheel-drive models achieve an estimated 25 highway mpg+. V6-equipped all-wheel-drive models deliver 24 highway mpg+.

5.7L HEMI® V8 engine

The available 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine produces Best-in-Class power+ – 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT), Fuel Saver Technology and the eight-speed automatic transmission, V8-equipped RWD models now offer Best-in-Class V8 fuel economy – 23 highway mpg+.

It’s no surprise that Durango provides Best-in-Class V6 and V8 towing+, allowing you to tow up to 6,200 lbs with the standard 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine. When equipped with the available 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine (as shown above), the Durango offers trailer tow capability of up to 7,400 lbs.

Having the engine up front and the drive axle in the rear gives the Durango
a near 50/50 weight distribution. During acceleration, weight shifts to the drive axle to increase downforce and help improve traction.

SWAY CONTROL

Standard Trailer Sway Control+ applies brake pressure on alternating wheels and may adjust engine throttle to help eliminate sway and maintain vehicle and trailer system stability.

SMOOTHER TRANSITIONS OF POWER

Dodge Durango comes standard with the fully electronic, class-exclusive eight-speed automatic transmission+, providing better efficiency, quicker acceleration and smoother shifting. The class-exclusive rotary E-shift knob+ adds a level of interior refinement, while standard steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters help provide precise manual control of the eight-speed automatic transmission.

The unibody structure is built with ultra-high-strength steel that helps improve driving dynamics by integrating the suspension with the body—reducing flex and weight when compared with body-on-frame designs. Aggressive shock and spring rates and large sway bars handle body roll in hard turns. Superb handling is achieved across the Durango lineup with electro-hydraulic steering on V6-equipped models and hydraulic steering on V8-equipped models.

Available on select Durango models, the All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system helps enhance driver confidence by leveraging the SUV’s near 50/50 weight distribution. Durango offers two AWD systems – one for the HEMI® V8 engine and one for the Pentastar® V6 engine-powered models. Each one greatly enhances the vehicle’s traction and handling by delivering a smooth driving experience on a wide range of road conditions.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL

Electronic Stability Control+ (ESC) monitors your steering input and vehicle motion to help give you confidence around every curve. During extreme steering maneuvers, ESC compares your steering input with the vehicle's actual movement. When it detects a difference, ESC applies the brakes and reduces engine throttle to help you maintain directional control.
