2016 Dodge Charger Safety & Security Features

ALWAYS ON GUARD

Accidents and road hazards rarely give you a heads-up before they strike.
That’s why the Dodge Charger packs more than 80 standard and available safety
and security features to help keep drivers and passengers protected.

PASSENGER PROTECTION

A modern, powerful ride should first and foremost protect. That’s why the Charger was designed
to help protect the passenger compartment and its occupants from an impact.

  • 2016 Dodge Charger Crumple Zones

  • 2016 Dodge Charger Safety Frame

  • 2016 Dodge Charger Side Guard Door Beams

  • 2016 Dodge Charger Airbags

  • 2016 Dodge Charger Head Restraints

Specially designed front and rear crumple zones help absorb energy during an impact
and redirect it away from passengers to help reduce the risk of injury.

A solid safety frame built with high-strength steel and substantial roof strength helps protect the passenger compartment in the event of an accident.

For greater toughness, high-strength steel beams have been welded into the vehicle's side door construction and connected to reinforcements in the vehicle’s structure to help provide dynamic
side-impact intrusion protection.

Advanced multistage driver and front passenger airbags+, supplemental full-length side-curtain airbags+, front seat-mounted side pelvic thorax airbags+ and a driver side knee blocker airbag+
all come standard in the Dodge Charger.

Active front head restraints+ automatically move forward and upward to minimize the gap between the headrest and occupant’s head, helping reduce the chance of injury to the driver and front passenger in certain types of rear-end impacts.

    KEYLESS ENTER 'N GO

If the key fob is in close proximity, Keyless Enter 'n Go automatically unlocks the doors when you pull the driver or front passenger door handle. Once inside, you can start the engine by stepping on the brake pedal and pressing the Start/Stop button.

  • RAIN-SENSING WIPERS

    RAIN-SENSING WIPERS

The available rain-sensing wipers activate automatically when they detect moisture on the windshield. As the rain level increases or decreases, the wiper speed adjusts for improved visibility.

  • EMERGENCY AND ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND AUTO-DIMMING REARVIEW MIRROR

EMERGENCY AND ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND AUTO-DIMMING REARVIEW MIRROR

The available Uconnect® Access+ service connects you directly with the police, fire department or an emergency medical services dispatcher when you push the 9-1-1 Call+ button. For Roadside Assistance+, one push of the “ASSIST” button summons the Dodge roadside assistance provider to help you with gas, a tire change or a tow. Both buttons are located in the rearview mirror, which dims automatically, to help reduce the blinding glare reflected from vehicles following behind you.

  • BLIND SPOT MONITORING AND REAR CROSS PATH DETECTION
    blank

BLIND SPOT MONITORING AND REAR CROSS PATH DETECTION

Know your surroundings with the available Blind Spot Monitoring System+, which alerts you when a vehicle is in your blind spot zone. When you shift into reverse, available Rear Cross Path Detection+ alerts you when it detects vehicles or objects crossing your path, to help you back out when your side view is blocked. The warning for both systems appears as a lighted icon in the exterior mirrors.

  • PARKSENSE ® REAR PARK ASSIST AND PARKVIEW ® REAR BACK UP CAMERA

PARKSENSE® REAR PARK ASSIST AND PARKVIEW® REAR BACK UP CAMERA

The available ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System+ detects objects behind you when the car is in reverse and provides a momentary brake pulse if a collision is imminent. The available ParkView® Rear Back Up Camera+ displays an image of the area behind your vehicle when you shift into reverse.

  • AVAILABLE LANESENSE ® LANE DEPARTURE WARNING WITH LANE KEEP ASSIST +

AVAILABLE LANESENSE® LANE DEPARTURE WARNING WITH LANE KEEP ASSIST+

During an unintentional lane drift, the system provides an audio and visual warning and uses the electronic power steering to help gently course-correct the vehicle back into the lane.

CONFIDENT CONTROL

Highly advanced sensor-driven features available on the Dodge Charger help identify potentially hazardous conditions and react almost instantaneously.

  • 2016 Dodge Charger Traction Control

  • 2016 Dodge Charger Hill Start Assist

All-Speed Traction Control limits wheel spin during acceleration so the drive wheels have maximum traction. If the system detects wheel slip, it applies brake pressure to the slipping wheel or wheels and if necessary, may reduce engine power to maintain traction and vehicle stability.

Electronic Stability Control+ (ESC) helps the driver maintain control under adverse conditions. ESC applies selective braking and sometimes reduces engine torque to respond to a deviation between steering input and the path the vehicle is traveling.

Hill Start Assist aids drivers when accelerating from a stop on a hill. The system maintains brake pressure for a short period of time between the release of the brake pedal and the push of the accelerator, to help prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards.

Available Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop+ detects when slower traffic is ahead. If the lane ahead is clear, the set speed is maintained. When traffic slows, the system adjusts to maintain a preselected distance between vehicles. Under certain traffic conditions the system can bring Charger
to a full stop without driver intervention.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING

The key to defensive driving is being alert and aware. That's why the Dodge Charger offers several features that help monitor your surroundings and warn you so you can react.

The available Rear Cross Path Detection+ helps you back out more confidently. When you shift into reverse, sensors scan for vehicles and objects crossing your path. The warning appears as a lighted icon in the exterior mirrors and a driver-selectable audible chime.

Available Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking+ determines if a frontal impact appears imminent. If so, the system will pre-fill the brakes and transmit audible warnings, visual proximity warnings and trigger Brake Assist to alert the driver. If the driver doesn’t respond, the system will brake the vehicle to reduce potential impact. It can bring the vehicle to a full stop if the speed is reduced below 20 mph.

Available LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist+ measures the vehicle’s position within lane boundaries. The system monitors the vehicle's movement and will provide an audible and visual warning when the vehicle moves into either lane if the turn signal isn’t activated. During an unintentional lane drift, the system provides a visual warning and uses electric power steering to help gently course-correct the vehicle back into the lane.

The available ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System with Stop and Release+ activates when the car is shifted into reverse, detecting nearby objects. If an imminent collision is detected, the system will provide a momentary brake pulse or, in certain circumstances, bring the vehicle to a stop before releasing.

The available Automatic High-Beam Control Headlamps detect ambient light from oncoming traffic and automatically switch the headlamp beam intensity from high- to low-beam and back again. They continuously provide the maximum amount of light possible without
“blinding” oncoming drivers.

PERFORMANCE AT THE FINISH LINE

The Antilock Brake System senses and prevents wheel lockup, offering improved steering control under extreme braking or slippery conditions.

  • 2016 Dodge Charger Brake Warning System

  • 2016 Dodge Charger Rain Brake Assist

If inadequate force is applied to the brakes in response to a signal from the Available Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking+ system, Advanced Brake Assist
increases brake force automatically.

Ready Alert Braking prepares the brakes for a panic stop when sensors detect a quick release of the accelerator pedal that suggests that the driver may need to stop suddenly.

Rain Brake Support helps keep brake pads dry in rainy conditions by applying a small amount
of pressure to the caliper for improved stopping power. It engages when the windshield wipers are activated.
