TOP SAFETY PICK
Dodge Durango was named a TOP SAFETY PICK+ for 2011 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
To earn the TOP SAFETY PICK a vehicle must have a good rating in:
High-speed front crash test
High-speed side crash test
Evaluation of seat / head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts
It must also offer standard Electronic Stability Control+.
To help reduce the chance of occupant injury in an accident, Dodge Durango includes six standard airbags and a variety of additional safety features.
Standard advanced front airbags+
Standard front seat-mounted side airbags+
Standard side-curtain airbags+
Standard active front head restraints+
Energy-absorbing crush zones
The available remote start system+ will start the engine from as far as 200 feet away, but will keep the doors locked until you want them opened.
The Keyless Enter 'n Go™ key fob allows you to unlock doors by pulling a door handle, if the fob is in your possession so no keys to fumble with.
Upon entry, easily start the vehicle with a press of the engine start / stop button and brake pedal.
The Sentry Key® Theft Deterrent System only allows your vehicle to start with the properly encoded key. If an unauthorized attempt is made to start the vehicle without the proper key, the engine will not operate.
An available vehicle theft alarm helps deter anyone from breaking into your Durango, keeping your personal items safe.
You can be confident that you, your passengers, your cargo and your Durango are well protected.
- ACTIVE FRONT HEAD RESTRAINTS
Active front head restraints+ are designed to help prevent or reduce the extent of injuries in certain types of rear-end impacts by minimizing the gap between the head restraint and the occupant's head.
Also included is four-way adjustment of the head restraint for added comfort.
- STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY
More than 50% of the body structure comes from high-strength and ultra high-strength steel along with other leading edge technologies to help improve Safety and Security and maintain the long-term integrity of the Dodge Durango.
Quality comes from integrity. Inner and outer rail reinforcements help protect occupants from intrusion during impact. Heavy gauge metal is optimally placed for increased performance.
Durango has a unibody structure that is more than 25% stiffer than the previous generation Durango. The end result is a vehicle with crossover versatility, SUV capability and performance.
- DURABILITY TESTING
Durango was durability tested for six million customer equivalent miles. In order to make a tight vehicle that performs beyond your expectations, engineers put Durango prototypes through a punishing set of tests on a road test simulator to replicate a wide range of on-road and off-road driving surfaces.
