The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) selected Dodge Journey as a TOP SAFETY PICK+ for 2011.
In order to earn an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK a vehicle must have a good rating in:
- The IIHS high-speed front crash test
- The IIHS high-speed side crash test
- The IIHS rollover test
- The evaluation of seat / head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts
It must also offer standard Electronic Stability Control+.

The Sentry Key® Theft Deterrent System only allows your vehicle to start with the properly encoded key. If an unauthorized attempt is made to start the vehicle without it, the engine will not operate

STANDARD AIRBAGS
Advanced multistage driver and front passenger airbags+ regulate and react to the severity of a crash by adjusting the airbag deployment force.
Supplemental side-curtain airbags+ are specifically designed to protect all outboard front- and rear-seat passengers.
Supplemental front seat-mounted side airbags+ provide enhanced side protection for the driver and front passenger. They work together with side-curtain airbags to help protect an occupant during side impact and rollover events.
A driver inflatable knee blocker airbag+ deploys when the driver's airbag deploys. It helps position the driver relative to the front airbag and avoid sliding under the instrument panel in the event of a collision.
- ACTIVE FRONT HEAD RESTRAINTS
Active front head restraints+ are designed to help prevent or reduce the extent of injuries to the driver and front passenger in certain types of rear-end impacts. They minimize the gap between the head restraint and the occupant's head.
- REMOTE KEYLESS FEATURES
The available remote start system+ will start the engine from as far as 200 feet away, but will keep the doors locked until you want them opened.
The standard Keyless Enter 'n Go™ Entry / Ignition System allows you to unlock the vehicle by touching the front door handles as long as you possess the key fob. So there's no fumbling for your keys.
Once inside, you can start the engine with a simple push of the engine Start- Stop button on the instrument panel.

Sync up to three remote devices to the HomeLink® universal transceiver. HomeLink includes three programmable buttons mounted in the overhead console. Which means you've got one remote, and no batteries to replace.
HomeLink will not send operating signals if the Vehicle Theft Security alarm is armed. This feature prevents a burglar from breaking into a vehicle parked outside a home and using the HomeLink system to enter the home.
