Dodge Durango features a four-wheel independent suspension.
The short / long-arm front suspension and isolated multi-link rear suspension with twin tube shocks and variable rate steel springs deliver precise, responsive handling for an agile, confident ride. Aggressive shock and spring rates and large sway bars handle body roll in hard turning maneuvers.
Near perfect 50:50 weight distribution results in excellent handling, neutral feel, and superb driving performance.
POWER STEERING
Durango has a nimble 37.1-foot turn circle (curb to curb). Rack-and-pinion electro-hydraulic power steering on V6 models, completes the package for precise maneuverability with unyielding off-road performance.
ALL-WEATHER PERFORMANCE
An active All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system is available on Durango models with the 5.7L HEMI® V8 with Fuel Saver Technology.
It provides added traction in poor driving conditions. The system is fully automatic. It features a two-speed transfer case, with low range.
The AWD system also features Variable Torque Distribution.
Electronic Stability Control+ helps maintain control during extreme steering maneuvers. It compares the driver's steering input with the vehicle's actual movement. When It detects a difference between the two, it applies the brakes, and reduces engine throttle, if necessary, to help guide the vehicle back on the driver's intended path.
18- and 20-inch low rolling resistance tires provide confident driving in snow and wet traction.

- HILL START ASSIST

Hill Start Assist allows you time to transition from brake to throttle to achieve a smooth launch on a grade. The system will hold brake pressure for about two seconds upon your release of the brake pedal. The system decreases wheel pressure in response to increasing throttle to provide a smooth launch.
- ACTIVE ALL-WHEEL DRIVE

Durango offers convenient full-time all-wheel drive which provides resistance to slipping wheels for additional torque transfer. The two-speed transfer case, available on Durango V8 models, routes up to 100% of available torque to the axle with the most traction when slippage is detected.
V6 models include a single-speed transfer case that splits driving torque 50% front / 50% rear.Low range gear reduction is offered for extreme traction conditions and active torque distribution through an electronically controlled clutch pack. It is available on Durango models equipped with the 5.7L HEMI V8 and the two-speed transfer case.
The available Skid Plate Group includes front suspension skid plate, fuel tank skid plate shield, transfer case skid plate shield, underbody skid plate and tow hooks.
- ADVANCED FOUR-WHEEL DISC BRAKE PERFORMANCE

Dodge Durango has innovative technologies within its brake systems that helps make every stop sure, secure and controlled. Standard four-wheel disc brakes include several advanced features.
A four-channel antilock brake system monitors the speed of each wheel, allowing individual wheel braking for superior control
Electronic Brake Force Distribution regulates braking pressure front-to-rear to optimize stopping distances under all vehicle-loading conditions
Ready-Alert Braking senses when you lift your foot off the accelerator suddenly, and applies a slight amount of brake pressure to make sure the brake pads and discs are prepared for a panic stop
Brake Assist senses emergency braking by detecting the rate of brake application and boosts the power as needed
Rain Brake Support removes water from brake pads by applying a small amount of pressure to the caliper. It engages when the windshield wipers are activated
