SUSPENSION
The available performance-tuned independent front and five-link rear suspension enhance handling characteristics while minimizing noise, vibration and harshness.
Stiff suspension damping increases control during aggressive maneuvers.
ALL-WHEEL DRIVE
An advanced all-wheel-drive system is available on select Dodge Charger models. The system features an active transfer case and exclusive front-axle disconnect to provide power on demand between the front and rear differentials, as needed.
The unique system seamlessly transitions between rear- and all-wheel drive with no driver intervention. When all-wheel drive is not required, the system automatically disconnects the front axle to maximize fuel efficiency, while still delivering the outstanding performance and handling inherent in rear-wheel drive.
ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL
Electronic Stability Control+ provides sophisticated four-channel active handling, which delivers traction where you need it the most. This helps you maintain control in demanding or adverse conditions. ESC monitors steering input and vehicle motion, sensing when there's a difference between your intended path and the actual path of the vehicle. It then applies selective braking to help guide your vehicle back onto your intended path. The system is calibrated for each vehicle's horsepower and torque.
Two-Mode Electronic Stability Control allows you to select "Full On" or "Partial Off". Partial Off disables the engine torque management and only applies selective braking interaction.

- BRAKING
Having confidence in your brake system is critical to the entire driving experience. Dodge Charger has multiple advanced systems that make sure every stop is sure, secure and controlled.
- High-performance brake linings provide superior fade resistance and outstanding pedal feel
- A four-channel antilock brake system monitors the speed of each wheel individually, allowing individual wheel braking for superior control
- Electronic Brake Force Distribution regulates braking pressure front-to-rear to optimize stopping distances and control under all vehicle-loading conditions
- Ready-Alert Braking anticipates when you suddenly release the accelerator pedal and may initiate an emergency brake stop. It applies a slight amount of brake pressure to make sure the brake pads and discs are prepared for a panic stop
- Brake Assist senses emergency braking and boosts the power as needed. Under certain conditions, brake assist may reduce overall stopping distance by eliminating the delay caused by not braking hard enough soon enough
- Hydraulic Boost Compensation runs the ABS pump "full-time" if it senses a failure, to ensure the brakes will perform as normal until the failure is serviced
- Rain Brake Support removes water from brake pads by applying a small amount of pressure to the caliper. It engages when the windshield wipers are activated
- SRT8 Brembo Brakes: The 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 provides world-class stopping power from 60-0 mph in 120 feet, with 14.2-inch (front) and 13.8-inch (rear) vented / slotted rotors with four-piston Brembo calipers painted red
- SRT8® HANDLING
Preproduction model shown.A new two-mode adaptive damping suspension on Dodge Charger SRT8® monitors driver input, vehicle speed, steering angle, steering speed, brake torque, throttle position and lateral acceleration to automatically tune the suspension, adapting to road conditions and driving style, for optimal control.
Drivers can also select between an "Auto" or "Sport" mode on the adaptive suspension. Changing the setting allows the shock damping characteristics to quickly change from an everyday performance ride to much firmer damping for more challenging driving situations.
The performance SRT®-tuned, fully hydraulic steering system has also been improved with a new, heavy-duty pump and revised gearing to give drivers more direct feel and on-center response. Available three- or four-season tires give the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 road-gripping performance.
