The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has selected Dodge Avenger as a TOP SAFETY PICK+ for 2011.
In order to earn an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK, a vehicle must get a good rating in the:
- High-speed front crash test
- High-speed side crash test
- Rollover test
- Evaluation of seat / head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts
It must also offer standard Electronic Stability Control+.
To help reduce the chance of injury in an accident, Dodge Avenger includes six standard airbags:
- Advanced front airbags+
- Front seat-mounted side airbags+
- Side-curtain airbags+
Additional passenger protection features include:
- Active front head restraints+
- A specially constructed safety cage with front and rear crumple zones that help absorb and redirect energy away from the passenger compartment
- The collapsible steering column, which compresses up to four inches, absorbing energy as the driver contacts the deploying airbag+.

- ACTIVE FRONT HEAD RESTRAINTS

Active front head restraints+ are designed to help prevent or reduce injuries to the driver and front passenger, in certain types of rear-end impacts. When deployed, these head restraints move forward and upward to decrease the space between the headrest and occupant's head, helping to reduce the chance of injury.
- HOMELINK®

Use the available HomeLink® universal transceiver to sync Avenger to up to three radio-controlled devices in or around your home. Buttons in the cockpit instantly bring devices like your garage door opener, security system or interior / exterior lighting under your control before you exit your vehicle.
The system features rolling-code technology that changes the transmitter code each time the remote button is pressed to prevent code capturing via scanner.
HomeLink provides driver peace of mind and the convenience of three-in- one operation, with no remotes to fumble with and no batteries to change.
