Ram is built to be durable from the ground up. Two-wheel drive models feature a short and long arm independent front suspension system with larger stabilizer bars, plus steering arms positioned to minimize bump steer. Four-wheel drive models feature a five-link, coil-spring front suspension with a link-type sway bar and a beam axle for an outstanding combination of ride, handling and off-road operating characteristics.
Both two- and four-wheel drive rear suspension systems use high-strength longitudinal leaf springs and a solid rear axle. All 3500 models include separate auxiliary spring leaves to support the full-rated load and contribute to Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR).
- Full-size Spare Tire
A full-size spare tire and steel wheel assembly is standard on all Dodge Ram Heavy Duty models. The spare tire and wheel are conveniently stowed under the vehicle. The jack and lug wrench are hidden under the passenger-side front seat and are secured to the floor by two wing nuts.
- Braking power
A truck as big and powerful as Ram Heavy Duty needs large brakes. Superior brake pad surface area, brake piston and caliper size let you stop with confidence and provide longer intervals between brake jobs.
Ram Heavy Duty also offers a segment-exclusive standard integrated diesel exhaust brakeen_based_auto_news_sprinter, an available integrated trailer brake controller and four-wheel Antilock Brake System (ABS).
