Electronic-Shift 4x4 System
Pasting power to the pavement is the first step toward getting the job done. The available electronic-shift part-time 4x4 system for Dodge Ram Chassis Cab trucks automatically transfers power to all wheels the moment it senses wheel slippage. Should the wheels slip due to mud, gravel, sand, snow, or rain, etc. this 4x4 system immediately goes into action to aid traction. The electric-shift unit is standard on Laramie models and optional on SLT models.

Limited-Slip Rear Axle
2008 Dodge Ram Chassis Cab trucks are equipped with All-New rear axles that have been upgraded for maximum durability. The axles are available with 4.10, 4.44, or 4.88 differential gear ratio. Axles for single-rear-wheel (SRW) vehicles have a rear GAWR of 6,500 lbs. The dual-rear-wheel (DRW) axle features a rear GAWR of 9,350 lbs.
2008 Dodge Ram 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cab trucks utilize a Dana® Spicer® S111 series single-drive axle which provide a higher rear GAWR and enable competitive load carrying capability. Dodge Ram 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cab trucks have an unsurpassed, competition-crushing standard front GAWR of 7,000 pounds.

Shift-On-The-Fly Transfer Case
The standard manual-shift part-time 4x4 system for Dodge Ram Chassis Cab trucks gets you through the rough stuff just as well as the electronic-shift 4x4 system, only now you have the control to "shift-on-the-fly" when you wish. The manual-shift unit is standard on ST and SLT models.
